Hi everybody me and my lathe are new here and new to each other as well I just got her home. I bought a 1968 homach km-1800 its a 14/23 x 48 gap bed gear head lathe.
the good part is its in great shape and i fgot it for dirt cheap the bad news is it has the gap missing and no other chucks but the three jaw appears to be a thread on type and my first question is how do I get it off. Dont really want to shift it into low and use the gears/ brake but dont really have a place to hold teh spindle and no good choices for the chuck either can i put a piece of hexagon stock in the chuck and put a wrench on it etc. etc.
