Sag 14 Threading Dial / Leadscrew ?

I want to make a threading dial for my Sag 14, it didnt come with one.

The thing that is tripping me up is the leadscrew. Which has an advertised pitch of 3/8"

Could someone please tell me how many teeth, and what diameter the gear needs to be that drives the thread dial?

I cannot for the life of me make sense of 3/8" pitch. There are about 2 and a half threads per inch {obviously, because its 3/8} So does that mean i need a gear with 20 teeth?

Maybe its just too early to do all this thinking.
