Sl3 tailstock

Got a new to me sl3 and playing with the manual sliding part of the tailstock and now it won't move. Looking for advice or a diagram/exploded view of the clamping mechanism for the tailstock to the ways. I've removed every bolt I can find and still nothing. Add to what happened i moved the tailstock towards the chuck (I'm sure more than it has in a long time) and it started to get tight and now won't move in either direction.

Need help with Weiler Matador feeds.

So today I go to thread with my Weiler Matador (Which recently I've taken apart most of it and cleaned it) which I've never done on this lathe before and it seemed a little coarser thread than I set. So I check and sure enough its way off. So I'm guessing its where the belt feeds disengage because when I feed to the right it feeds at the proper pitch and with gears only, when I try the other way the belt stays engaged. It may be missing parts, like it had no cup washers when I took it apart. I'll try and update tomorrow, but any help would be great. Thanks

One of my hobbies is target shooting, so when I first heard the name Tanner, I didn't know what or who they were. Of course I googled them, and found their website.

Thought you guys might appreciate the machines shown in the pics. Looks like a nice shop! Look like they make nice rifles too.

Schaublin

In 1968 I rescued a Schaublin TO – 102 Toolmaker's Lathe and its accessories from going to a foundry following a factory fire. This was to be a project to rebuild this lathe which I finally got round to this year. The reconditioning has progressed to the point where it is bench mounted and ready to run, except that in the assembly I am missing the 3 Step Countershaft Vee Pulley, Bore 24 mm Diam. which is part of the Individual Drive part no. 102-96. 150.

Schaublin say they externally sourced this part and are not in a position to supply or give me the dimensions of this pulley. I am therefore seeking the root diameters of this part so that I can purchase a similar pulley and complete the assembly. Can someone help!

New owner of Mori Seiki MS-850G need some help to get going.

Greetings all, I'm seeking some help getting set up and running with my recent acquisition of a Mori Seiki MS-850G lathe. Up until recently I was running a smaller WEBB lathe which was a wonderful machine but I've always wanted a Mori simply because my father had one many years ago. Last week I managed to trade my WEBB (and some cash on top) and get this 850 into my shop. The machine was recently gone through by Greer Machinery and runs really smoothly but I was hoping to get some advice on how to get up and running. Though I've been around lathes for years for years and can handle most basic operations, I was hoping to get some more in depth knowledge on tooling, setup, terminology, backlash tuning, etc. Thanks in advance for your input and here I go with some questions:

1) I was able to keep all of my old tooling such as chucks, cutters, tool posts, etc. For years I was under the impression that my old WEBB ran A1-6 chucks but it became clear today that I was misinformed since my new Mori is in fact A1-6 and is clearly much bigger. Is it possible to use my old smaller chucks onto my new lathe? What mount type are my old chucks? (see picture below). Is that what adaptor plates do?

2) I may have screwed myself slightly since my old machine was smaller and more suited to the smaller type jobs I do 90% of the time, ideally I'd have a large lathe and a small lathe but space and money is always an issue. I wanted to be able to turn automotive road wheels of about 15" diameter which my old machine could not handle. I find that my old tool posts (KDK/Dorian) are nothing like the monster tool post that came with this Mori. Is it possible to run my old small tool posts? (see Picture)

3)It seems like if I was able to run my old small tool posts, the cross slide might contact the chuck before my cutter would (see picture). How do I address this?

Thanks again for your help and please forgive my beginner questions!

Schaublin 135 Variator o-ring size

Does anyone know the correct o-ring size for this version of the 135? The shaft od is 39.97mm the old ring on the shaft is 46.2mm od the groove is around 4.5mm wide but I don't have the correct tools to measure the groove with high accuracy. I think it is around the groove is right around 46mm but as I said can't measure that very well.

As an engineer I should be able to size this but it is hard without knowing the full dimmensions. I think I need something like a 39mm ID and 4mm thick but am not sure.

Thanks
Luke

Weiler LZ330 Apron Rebuild

$

I am rebuilding my apron after some siluable oil ingress and a lot of rust subsequently (before I bought it).

I really need a manual if someone can help.

The apron is difficult to disassemble. Weiler were obviously very proud of the tolerances they could hold and subsequently set about designing the apron with an absurd abundance of interference fit bushings for every shaft, which hold all the gears (also interference fit). Add some corrosion and you have a nightmare getting anything to move.

This lowest gear + shaft is the worst bit, with a fitted bushing retaining each side. In my case the wear from the oil seals is horrific. The key inside the bore is also half work out.

If anyone has any spares please help.

Would like to buy a back plate for a 102 W20 spindle...

Hey guys, I have a Schaublin 102 with the W20 spindle on it and the lathe came with a 3 jaw chuck that is not in very good shape. It is on a shop made back plate (made by a previous owner) and once I checked it out I realized they just cut sae threads in it and it doesn't match the spindle. I have a line on a really nice Buck chuck but I want to put it on a new back plate. My other lathes are not able to cut metric threads and I am not real interested in converting one to be able to make my own.
So, anyone out there have a back plate that I could buy? Literature says the thread is M37.6 x 3 , I'll include the dwg.

The Buck chuck is 3" diameter if it makes any difference.

Thanks,
Jason

Schaublin 150 completely disassembled!

Hello dear friends, I am writing because this summer I found in an old workshop (closed for years) a schaublin model 150.
With little money I was able to take it home because it was full of dust and rust without a few pieces (without even the tailstock).

Reading on the net, I realized that I had in my hands a great lathe, so I decided to restore it, unfortunately not only missing the tailstock to the lathe, but also the tool carrier slide, and if that wasn't enough, it also lacks the gear cover gear, some gears, and all electric plant!

Then I realiClick image for larger version.

So I decided that the only way I have to use it you convert it to cnc.

So I no longer need the gearbox, and any other levers that serve the manual operation, so if anyone needs some components, sell them to the highest bidder

Webb (MORI MS clone) cross slide installation - help needed

$

Hi all, I've got a WEBB 17 x 40 engine lathe that was really sticky and didn't travel very freely, so I took my compound and cross slide off to give everything a good thorough cleaning and lubrification. I disassembled and reassembled the compound screw assembly without problem, however I'm having a hell of a time getting the cross-slide re-installed. I just can't seem to get the screw to engage properly. I can get it to start, but it goes about a half to one turn and binds up. I've tried starting it at various points of rotation, but I just can't seem to get it right.

Any tips for reinstalling the cross slide? Do I need to remove the screw from the carriage, or loosen/remove the captive nut from the slide? I didn't change anything with regards to the captive nut adjustment (the "nut" the screw rides in that is made of the three brass wedges) so I expected it to go back on just like it came off. I've tried to install the slide with the gib in, but loose, and with the gib completely out, and either way I just can't seem to get that screw to engage correctly.

Webb (MORI MS clone) automoatic oiler not working

So I just got done taking apart and cleaning and lubing my cross slide and compound and I adjusted gibs and backlash so now the lathe handles really nice. In taking everything apart, I realized the automatic oiler isn't working. I tried cleaning the oil output hole with pipe cleaner, but I think there is either a really solid blockage or a bend in the pathway, because I get about 6-7" of pipe cleaner in there and hit a wall I can't get past. Interestingly, if I load that hole up with solvent (which I did) and I operate the cairrage wheel, it will squirt the solvent out. So it seems it's building pressure, but not able to suck the oil up.

I'm looking for any advice for how to service this system.

Hello guys,
Today I bought a Shaublin TR 102 HP that I don`t know nothing about.
I ask the workers from the shop where I bought it and they told me that the lathe was running very well.
Here are some pictures with it and the problems that I know of.

The owner wanted to use the cooling tank and the pomp at some project and they cut the hoses to get it out.(stupid decizion :( )

And the most important thinks :)

Any of you have this kind of machinery ?

Thanks,

Cata

New chuck for the little schaublin yesterday

I picked up special 4 jaw chuck yesterday for the 102. It is a Roehm EG series which is a 4 jaw scroll chuck that also has independant jaws if that makes any sense. Bit expensive but should prove to be useful. The design is interesting, basically it looks like a normal scroll chuck with adjustable jaws stacked on top. I had heard of these but never seen one before. It had never been used (still in the box) but had been sitting for long enough to harden all the grease so I had to disassemble, clean and re-grease etc.
